When you run a one-woman catering company, you wear every hat: chef, stylist, bookkeeper, social media manager, and (attempted) marketing department. So when something falls outside my expertise, I'd rather hand it to someone who actually knows what they're doing than muddle through it myself.
That's exactly what happened with my website. The whole thing, from the design and layout to the behind-the-scenes technical work and SEO, was rebuilt by Aperture by Andrew, a Denver-based web and SEO consultant. In fact, it's the site you're reading right now.
The Website Rebuild
Aperture by Andrew rebuilt Boards and Bites from the ground up: a clean, mobile-friendly design that reflects the same care I put into my boards, pages that load quickly, and a layout that's easy to navigate whether you're on your phone at a venue or planning from your laptop at home.
For me, the difference is practical. My blog, gallery, and contact page finally feel like one cohesive site instead of something I'd patched together myself. And because the foundation was built properly, adding new content, like the post you're reading, is simple instead of a headache.
Why the SEO Side Matters Too
Here's the thing about running a catering business: the best charcuterie board in Denver doesn't matter if no one can find you online. A great-looking website is step one, but it also has to show up when someone searches for what you do.
That's the other half of what Aperture by Andrew handles: SEO audits, website health checks, and making sure the site actually ranks for the right searches. He also looks at how businesses show up in AI search tools like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, which is quickly becoming just as important as traditional Google rankings for local businesses.
What Stood Out
A few things made the experience easy to recommend:
- He explains things clearly. No jargon dump, no vague promises, just a straightforward read on what was working, what wasn't, and why it mattered.
- He gets small businesses. Every recommendation was scoped to what actually made sense for a solo operator, not a corporate playbook that assumes you have a marketing team.
- Direct communication. I was talking straight to the person doing the actual work.
If You're a Local Business Owner
If your website feels out of date, or invisible on Google, or you've just never known whether your SEO is actually working, Andrew is worth a look. He builds and rebuilds small business websites, and he also offers a free instant SEO audit through his site, a quick way to see how your current SEO actually measures up before committing to anything.
Denver has no shortage of talented small business owners, and I love being able to point mine toward people who've earned it. Consider this my thank-you note, in blog form.
And if you're a fellow Denver-area small business owner: I'm always looking to build relationships with people and brands my clients would genuinely benefit from. If you'd be a good fit to feature here, or you're interested in an affiliate or referral partnership, reach out and let's talk.
